Candeia is an essential oil obtained by distillation and extracted from a tree originating in Brazil. This shrub, Linnean name Vanillosmopsis erythropappa, which is of the Asteraceae family, and grows in the southeast and midwest regions of Brazil. The tree yields a white, hard, resinous wood and its leaves, flowers and oil have traditional wellness properties. Candeia contains at least 95% of natural alpha-Bisabolol, a monocyclic unsaturated sesquiterpene alcohol. Alpha-Bisabolol Natural is an optically active viscous colorless to somewhat yellow liquid, which is nontoxic and nonirritating to the skin, and is well known for its inflammation-balancing and skin-supportive properties, it is also traditionally valued for antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial support. Specifically, it is traditionally regarded as supportive for microbial balance. Candeia oil (a-Bisabolol) is used in many beauty and skin care formulas for its soothing, anti-irritating, wound comfort support, antibacterial and deodorizing properties. It is also regarded as a safe penetration enhancer for topical and transdermal wellness applications. For the natural perfumer this oil has a soft woody floral aroma and would be a good bridge or binder note that has a slow dry down.
